Zippy is a renowned Portuguese brand specialized in clothing, accessories, nursery, and everything in between, for children, newborns and parents. In 2018, Zippy wanted to refresh their brand without the fuss of a complete rebranding. To do so, they chose This is Pacifica, a design studio from Porto, well-known for their unique approach and bespoke design to every single project.
This is Pacifica created a whole new visual universe for Zippy’s brand with bold colors, simple geometric shapes, and typography. They built a system to design new compositions from the combination of these three elements (colors, shapes and typography), which will generate endless possibilities for future occasions.
To make this new visual universe as flexible and future-proof as possible, This is Pacifica had the idea to animate these elements and create a short film showcasing this atmosphere and personality.
After having a close look into the brand guidelines and all the assets they created, I gathered some of these visual compositions and started thinking of how they could work together and tell a story. Miguel Durão had already wrote the brand signature and helped with a short script for the brand video.
The motion design in this project had a simple goal, to embody the personality of the brand created in the static assets without overshadowing it. With all these inputs in mind and a close collaboration with This is Pacifica, I transformed those elements into a comprehensive and straightforward brand video that reflects Zippy’s playful state of mind.
